Happy Halloween! Why are Christians like pumpkins? See if your child can tell you about how Jesus picks us , cleans us from the inside out, cleaning out all the gunk and sin in our lives, carves a happy face that can allow the candle light to shine through as we look different with Jesus in our hearts. The kids started off with the Red Cardinals taking the lead with our ballon relay, Green Dragons Close behind. The Yellow Jackets squeaked past the Navy Seals for third.
Next we headed to worship as the 4th grade boys led us in our moves and singing. Great Job! They showed us how to fall down as "Mercy is falling down".
Today we had a great day talking about King Nebuchanezzar, lovingly called "King Nebo", and three faithful men of God, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in our club. King Nebo told about "what happened yesterday" withShaqattack, Hackeysack, and Tobedhegoes in his kingdom...
Steve Faris discussed what it looked like for these three men to stand for God by defying the king and not worshipping his idol. They were willing to be put into the fiery furnace than bow before the idol. God protected them in a big way, and the king said for everyone to add their God to the list and don't speak bad against Him. The phrase from today was "It's hard, but good's a comin', and it's comin' thru me, when I stand for God!"
Our verse today was “When I am afraid, I will trust in You.” Psalm 56:3. Please practice this with your kids.
In small group time, we continued with how God can give you courage to stand for Him, no matter what. You may face persecution, but God will be with you to help you stand. When you are afraid to stand for God, remember His promise to you in Deuteronomy 31:6,“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you, He will never leave you nor forsake you.” He will also protect us in times of trouble just like He did the 3 boys.
Psalm 46:1 “ God is our place of safety. He gives us strength. He is always there to help us in times of trouble.
